The BiG Pack Generation 5 is a large square baler for high-volume baling of straw, hay, and silage, available in 120×70 cm and 120×90 cm chamber sizes, with standard or high-density (HDP) configurations. It’s built for contractors and commercial-scale operations.
Generation 5 adds a 20% longer baling chamber for firmer bales, the new snippet-free V-knotter, an updated Variable Filling System with cab-adjustable pre-compression, the new KRONE PowerClean knotter-cleaning system, standard SmartConnect telemetry, and an optional integrated silage additive dispenser. It covers the 1270 and 1290 chamber families; the 890, 4×4, and 870 HDP chamber sizes remain available only in the previous generation.
Generation 5’s own range tops out at the BiG Pack 1290 HDP VC. The BiG Pack HDP II 1290 (VC) is KRONE’s newest flagship high-density model, launched separately in 2025, and represents a further step up in throughput and density beyond the HDP models in this range.
It’s an optional fully integrated system with a 400-litre tank mounted above the bale chamber, applying conservation or fermentation-boosting additives through spray nozzles above the pick-up. Application rates can be set by fixed flow, throughput, or crop moisture level.
